The objective of this section is to review the different types of legal entities that are available for businesses so that you can advise your clients on the types of entities, including which entity is the best fit for your clients’ circumstances.

 

Funding Amount and Sources

Learning Objectives

The objective of this section is to identify and analyze the two primary decisions every entrepreneur must make regarding funding. 

  1. How much are the start-up costs?
  2. What types and sources of funding should be sought to fund the difference between the total start-up costs and the entrepreneur’s investment?

Financial Statements

Learning Objective

This section is an overview of the general purpose financial statements.  These statements are needed as part of a business plan and are also required when applying for debt or equity financing for the business.  In addition, a transaction analysis model based on the balance sheet will be covered.  A comprehensive example is provided to illustrate the transaction analysis model and the financial statements.

 

Financial Statement Analysis Techniques 

Learning Objective

The objective of this section is to describe the primary types of financial statement analysis techniques that can be used to help your clients identify strengths and weaknesses in their companies.

 

Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis

Learning Objective

This section provides another accounting technique (cost-volume-profit analysis) that can be used to evaluate a firm’s performance or its plans for the future.
